Choose a VM size and disk

A preset sets the vCPU, memory and default scratch disk of the VM. You choose it with run.preset and can ask for a bigger disk with storage_mib.

1 · Pick a preset

Set run.preset in task.yaml; the sizes are in Presets and limits.

task.yaml
run:
  preset: std.xlarge

2 · Check what your plan allows

whoami shows the presets and the scratch limit of your plan.

terminal
$ ignitify whoami | grep -E 'allowed_presets|scratch_ceiling'scratch_ceiling          512 MiBallowed_presets             std.micro, std.small

3 · Ask for more disk

execution.storage_mib is a floor: use more than the preset default, up to your plan's limit.

task.yaml
execution:
  storage_mib: <MiB> # more than the preset default, at most your plan's limit

4 · A value below the default is raised

With storage_mib: 1, the run gets the preset default, and the CLI prints a storage-clamped note.

terminal
$ ignitify task:run my-task✓ Run Submittedrun_id       019fdec2-1b6c-7d90-a3f4-5c8e2b7d9e10resource_id  run_Hx7LpA2nRc4Vstatus       PENDINGNote: storage_mib 1 is below the std.xlarge default (1024 MiB). The run uses 1024 MiB.

5 · A value above your plan's limit is refused

task:deploy and task:run both refuse it. Nothing is capped for you.

terminal
$ ignitify task:deploy my-task✗ Upload failed · 0sError: API 400: {"error":"execution.storage_mib=<n> exceeds the scratch limit (<n> MiB)"}
